I often reach for the Distressor when I’m looking for kind of an over-the-top blown out compressor kinda vibe on things I’m working on, but I have to admit I didn’t really understand the nuances of how the original hardware units worked. I recently ran into this video from Universal Audio that was super helpful in understanding the controls in a lot more detail. Highly recommend spending 20 minutes with it if you use the Distressor and have been mostly sticking with pre-sets or just experimenting.
