What makes “Sorry for Being Me” hurt is the tension that permeates every level of the song. It appears to be apologetic, but underneath it is resentment, defensiveness, and emotional avoidance. TChop is the attitude of someone who knows accountability is late but still blames others. That emotional contradiction gives the record its weight and keeps the story compelling from beginning to end.
Super stoked for how NewFire picked up on that intention for the song. It’s really rewarding when people “get it” and they nailed what I was trying to pull off. Thanks so much for the kind review!
